SDNY COURTHOUSE, Aug 21 - A geography professor at Hunter College in the City University of New York on August 18, 2023 sued a former student for allegedly ripping off her ideas for a database and interface she said is better than Google Maps.

The complaint was filed in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York which Inner City Press closely covers and where it found the complaint, just filed, in the docket.

Hongmian Gong says defendant Lerone Savage was her student and agreed that he would not share the Project Information with anyone nor use it for his thesis without her consent - but did, retaining a "multimodal transportation network database."

She wants an injunction, and damages.

On August 21 she refiled her complaint, adding the Copyright notice, after it was assigned to District Judge Edgardo Ramos.

The case is Gong v. Savage, 23-cv-0755 (Ramos)
