SDNY COURTHOUSE, May 17 – J-Quan Johnson was injured by NYPD officers on August 31, 2014 at the end of a block party on West 164th Street in Upper Manhattan. In 2015, he sued.
Now, six years later, it is coming to trial.
On May 17, U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York Judge Edgardo Ramos held a final pre-trial conference on the eve of trial. Inner City Press covered it.
There were arguments about video to be shown at trial, including one of a Mr. Wilson who got arrested (the City's lawyer said for throwing a bottle, the plaintiff's lawyer said for taking a baton).
One witness, who has had brain surgury albeit five years ago, will be allowed to testify remotely.
Judge Ramos said, We've all gotten used to that. He said he'll see the parties in Courtroom 318 of 40 Foley Square on May 18.
