NYS COURTS, July 7 – Four supporters of NYC Mayor Eric Adams 2021 campaign were arraigned and released on their own recognizance on July 7. Inner City Press was there - video here.
From the announcement: "Manhattan District Attorney Alvin L. Bragg, Jr., today announced the indictments of DWAYNE MONTGOMERY, 64, SHAMSUDDIN RIZA, 70, MILLICENT REDICK, 77, RONALD PEEK, 65, YAHYA MUSHTAQ, 28, SHAHID MUSHTAQ, 29, and ECOSAFETY CONSULTANTS INC. for conspiring to use a straw donor scheme to illegally generate matching funds from the New York City Campaign Finance Board during the 2021 mayoral election."
Dwayne Montgomery was up first. He wore a COVID / dust mask and was described as retired NYPD.
After pleading not guilty, he shielded his face with a form the NYS Courts officer gave him. But photos had been permitted by the judge; Inner City Press and three others were in the jury box.
Next came the much younger and slicker Shahid Mushtaq; his Queens-based lawyer also pled not guilty for his company, Ecosafety Consultants, Inc.
Millicent Redick had been appointed an 18-B lawyer by the judge, who asked that counsel review eligibility during the proceeding. All defendants were released and told to return on October 10, as will Inner City Press Downtown News Service.
