SDNY COURTHOUSE, July 20 – Doctor Sari Edelman sued NYU Langone and other doctors there for gender discrimination.
Amid the ongoing trial, on July 17, 2023 a conference was held by U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York Judge Lewis J. Liman. Inner City Press was there.
The defense table was full, and defense counsel requested twenty minutes to move against certain of the charges. Mention was made of the plaintiff having been called a b*tch, apparently by Doctor Joseph Antonik.
While defense counsel said that even if true, this would have been just a petty slight.
The jury delivered a mix verdict: no to gender to discrimination, yes to retaliation by the NYU defendants and Antonik, payment of $700,000. The jury notes are sealed, at least in the docket for now.
The case is Edelman v. NYU Langone Health System, et al., 21-cv-502 (Liman)
