SDNY COURTHOUSE, July 6 – Joshua Henner's arrest on federal wire fraud and ID theft charged was announced on July 6, 2023. Then the prosecutors agreed to his release on $100,000 bond, getting only one financially-responsible co-signer rather than the two they sought. Inner City Press was there, thread here and below.

The Southern District of New York prosecutors announced "the unsealing of a two-count Indictment charging JOSHUA HENNER with wire fraud and aggravated identity theft.  As alleged in the Indictment, HENNER, through false statements and representations, convinced victims to loan him at least $1.6 million for the purpose of investing in a start-up, while, in reality, misappropriating those funds for his own purposes.  HENNER was arrested this morning and will be presented in Manhattan federal court later today before U.S. Magistrate Judge Jennifer E. Willis."

Henner pleads not guilty. Assistant US Attorney says, We are not seeking detention. Wants $100,000 unsecured bond: Federal Defender wants $50,000. They say $1.6 million flowed to him...

Federal Defender: Henner was born on Long Island. His father, retired, is here in court. His mother is away on vacation- she is also retired.

Judge Willis: Wouldn't this be moral suasion? Mr. Henner lives with his father and stepmother.

AUSA: That's true. But it's recent

Judge Willis: Mr Henner, I release you on $100,000 personal recog bond, co-signed by you father and one financially responsible person. Your mental health treatment will need to be verified. No new crypto or bank accounts.
