SDNY COURTHOUSE, Dec 17 -- In September and October 2022 Trevor Milton, founder of Nikola Motor was put on trial for fraudulent claims about NKLA's hydrogen trucks.
On Friday, October 14, Milton was found guilty on three of four counts.
On November 14, 2023 Milton's counsel asked for mere probation, contrasting Milton to Elizabeth Holmes and more recently OneCoin's Sebastian Greenwood (whose sealing of sentencing letters Inner City Press has appealed)
On December 15 Milton claimed there was no loss. On December 17, the US Attorney's Office wrote in opposing Milton's late filed comments on the Pre-Sentencing report, 5 pages on Patreon here. Inner City Press, on the eve of sentencing, publishes this poem:
Trevor Milton Blues by Matthew Russell Lee
It all began with Silly String
Fun dry times in the old Salt Lake
Always selling, like windows in Puerto Rico
Property in Turks & Caicos, time to cash out.
COVID and the hydrogen truck
Government checks and Robinhood memes
Why not buy a ranch with Nikola stock?
And empty truck down a three percent incline.
When it all collapsed and the agents came
Attack-dog lawyer, never settle.
Party times in Foley Square
Why does Wheelock dare ask a question?
Grounds to appeal, ironic victim of bias.
But finally the sentencing
I am not Elizabeth Holmes
The only defense.
