SDNY COURTHOUSE, March 7 – There is a slew of photograph copyright lawsuits against Slice, described in the suits as "an online food ordering platform for independent pizzerias."

On March 7, 2023 U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York  Magistrate Judge Robert W. Lehrburger held proceeding. Inner City Press covered it.

The plaintiff has a library of food photographs, and alleges that Slice and co-defendants like Tonys Pizza of Poughkeepsie, Inc. are using photographs of their websites without license.

Defense counsel pointed out there is a near identical case in Maryland. The complaint is printed on paper with "Copycat Legal" at the bottom.

Judge Lehrburger ordered the case(s) stayed until June 7 "or such earlier date as the Court may order. The parties shall file a joint status report by June 5 or if earlier, within 7 days after any determination by the Panel on Multi-District Litigation."

This case is Prepared Food Photos, Inc. v. Tonys Pizza of Poughkeepsie, Inc. et al. 22-cv-7160 (Carter / Lehrburger)
