SDNY COURTHOUSE, Oct 14 – How corrupt is today's UN system, under Antonio Guterres? Well on October 14, 2021 for the UN "Human Rights" Council every election was without any opposition or competition. So too the current "election" of the UN Correspondents Association, here.
And while the UN Correspondents have entirely ignored the corruption of Honduras president Juan Orlando Hernandez, propped up by Guterres in the last election and since, in Geneva among those elected were, yes, Honduras - and the Cameroon of Paul Biya, which with Guterres support has been slaughtering Anglophone civilians (to cover it up, Guterres, Melissa Fleming and Stephane Dujarric have banned Inner City Press 1338 days), and Honduras of narco-president Juan Orlando Hernandez.
Now from Geneva, as a sort of footnote to the UN's actual role, this: "The UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Michelle Bachelet on Tuesday expressed her deep concern about political violence in Honduras, which has already claimed 29 lives, and called on the authorities to ensure an environment conducive to holding peaceful, transparent and genuine elections. Honduras will hold local, general and presidential elections this coming Sunday, 28 November, in an extremely tense and polarized context, in which serious attacks and other forms of violence have been documented. Since primary elections were called in September 2020 up to the present, the UN Human Rights Office in Honduras has recorded 63 cases of political violence, including 29 killings, 14 attacks, 12 instances of aggressive behaviour, as well as seven people being directly threatened and one kidnapped." The new members of the Human Rights Council will start the three-year-mandate on 1 January 2022.
