SDNY COURTHOUSE, May 19 รข€“A man from India who entered the US on foot in 2018 has been detained by ICP in the Orange County Jail. On  May 19 he filed a habeas corpus petition in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York, where Inner City Press found it.

The petition says he was target for supporting the Mann party, a Sikh Punjabi separatist movement.  He was released on bond and moved to New York.

Checking in at 26 Federal Plaza in February 2026 he was detained. He says he has memory and language issues.

The case has been assigned to Judge J. Paul Oetken who has released other petitioners.

The case is J.T.S. v. Genalo, et al., 1:26-cv-4168 (Oetken)
