SDNY COURTHOUSE, Feb 14 – Ephraim Joseph Ullmann, a Manhattan based businessman, is charged with a loan fraud scheming using an Oklahoma company registered under an American Indian tribe.

On January 19, 2022U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York Judge Richard M. Berman held a proceeding. Inner City Press covered it.

The complaint against Ullmann says to defraud borrowers he told them their money was "pending OFAC."

Ullmann was arrested and released on bond in August 2021.

Judge Berman read him his Rule 5(F) rights, to Brady material and more, and set a next conference.

Jump cut to February 14, 2023. Ullmann had plead guilty to Count 1, with a stipulated sentencing guideline of 41 to 51 months. In a well-attended sentencing with tears visible and an overflow courtroom on the 26th floor, Judge Berman sentenced Ullmann to 34 months. His lawyer asked for Otisville, and Judge Berman said he would so recommend. Self-surrender day is April 3 by 2 pm.

The case is US v. Ullmann, 22-cr-3 (Berman)
