SDNY COURTHOUSE, July 25 – Forex trader Rohan Ramchandrani sued Citigroup for tricking DOJ into indicting him. Now there are disputes about deposing a DOJ witness.

On March 23, U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York Magistrate Judge Stewart D. Aaron held a proceeding. Inner City Press covered it.

The plaintiff has complained about Citigroup moving for the DOJ deposition before completing its discovery production.

Judge Aaron asked pointed questions about delay, then held a non-public portion about counsel's health.

To his credit he returned with a public summary, and said he'll leave some of the timing of the depositions to counsel.

On June 13, Judge Aaron held another proceeding, and Inner City Press again covered it. This time Judge Aaron ordered the plaintiff to provide Citi with a proposed stipulation regarding annotated chats related to Cleary's meetings with DOJ, and report back by June 14.

On June 14, Citigroup's lawyers at Goodwin Proctor wrote to Judge Aaron that "the parties have been unable to reach an agreement on a stipulation."

On July 25, Judge Aaron held another proceeding and Inner City Press again covered it. Judge Aaron extended the discovery deadline until August 15 to take a remote two-hour deposition of Forese. By July 28 Citi is to contact Forese.

The case is Ramchandani v. CitiBank National Association et al., 19-cv-9124 (Marrero / Aaron)
