SDNY COURTHOUSE, Feb 1 – Giannis Antetokounmpo is suing a business called Nomercy50 for infringing the trademark to, what else, "Greek Freak." But he is suing for only $9,000.

On February 1, U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York Magistrate Judge Katharine H. Parker held a proceeding. Inner City Press covered it. But the defendant failed to appear.

Judge Parker asked the requisite questions about attempted service of process.

The surprise was the low value of the case, to be pursued by a plaintiff with a large NBA contract. But money is money, apparently.

The case is Antetokounmpo v. Searcy, 20-cv-5055 (Koeltl / Parker)
