In UNSC, Nigeria Gets Peacekeeping, Portugal 1718 But Not Working Methods

UNITED NATIONS, December 22 -- In UN Security Council committee assignments, Nigeria is getting Peackeeping, and Portugal will head the North Korea Sanctions 1718 committee.

Portugal got edged out for the Working Methods Committee by Bosnia, in a fight first covered by Inner City Press, but has been told it can have that committee next year. This may also be the case with Peacekeeping and India.

The Al Qaeda and Taliban 1267 Committee will pass from Austria to Germany. India will get Somalia Sanctions, being turned over by Mexican Ambassador Claude Heller, who is slated to hold a press conference on Thursday, along with Uganda's Ambassador Rugunda. Watch this site.
