UN Volker Turk Collaborated in Banning Press Now Staff Says He Strong Arms to Relocate

UN GATE, May 30 –  How corrupt and decrepit has the UN system become under Antonio Guterres, in this case due to Guterres? Today's example is again from the Office of the High Commission for Human Rights, to which Guterres appointed his unqualified crony Volker Turk more than two years ago.

From OHCHR staff: "Dear Mr Lee The staff in OHCHR says basta to abuse by corrupt senior management. Two weeks ago High Commissioner Volker Turk and his chief of operations Maarit Kohonen, unable to control her anger, openly threatened us “accept relocation or be fired”. Yesterday, in another pointless townhall we made clear to Volker Turk that we will not accept barbaric threats.

Yesterday Kohonen was nowhere to be seen to avoid more damage. The truth is that is that UN80 in OHCHR is a smokescreen to cover years of financial mismanagement. The truth is that OHCHR is run by incompetent senior management that only care about giving jobs to their friends and relatives (soon a detailed report on this) while threaten staff with relocation or dismissal. OHCHR staff says BASTA. We are not in the same boat as Volker Turk who will leave in one year to a cozy pension or to another post by his protector Guterres. Turk’s 2.0 iniciative, has been a fiasco and a waste of funds in consultancies and irrelevant positions for cronies. Turk announced his 2.0 will be merged with UN80.

We demand the resignation of Volker Turk, Nada al Nashif, Maarit Kohonen, Kim Taylor and all senior management and an independent investigation by member states on the corruption and financial mismanagement in OHCHR. The UN needs reform not threats. Relocation is not the solution. Dismissals are not the solution.  We are not afraid anymore of threats although selective termination of contracts has already started. The staff and our families cannot become the victims of incompetent and nepotistic senior management. We will resist with all available means and we will prevail." This is the UN of Guterres.

Turk as a staffer on Guterres' 38th floor did nothing when his boss Guterres had the critical Press roughed up and thrown out. There has been no due process since, not even a response to Guterres' Melissa Fleming to a pro bono inquiry for Inner City Press from the law firm Quinn Emanuel. Some human righters.
