SDNY COURTHOUSE, May 17 – A man who violated his supervised release by traveling to Connecticut, only to get shot in the leg in a night club, was up for sentencing on May 17.

U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York Judge John P. Cronan, after a day presiding of a bank fraud trial, held the sentencing.

The AUSA linked the shooting to a fight; the defense pointed out that is not in the record. The guidelines were five to 11 months.

The defense ask for four months, like the defendant's brother, and said the the gunshot wound was something of a punishment already.

Judge Cronan arrived at a five month sentence to be followed by 18 months Supervised Release. He agreed to put off surrender for 60 days, to allow for medical treatment.

The overall case is  US v. Burrell, et al., 15-cr-95 (Cronan)
