SDNY COURTHOUSE, Dec 10 – Aliyah Baker sued New York City for NYPD officers assaulting her while she mourned the death of her 17 year old niece.

On September 17 U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York Judge Alvin K. Hellerstein held a proceeding. Inner City Press covered it.

The parties said they're ready for trial. Judge Hellerstein reminded them that amid COVID the SDNY has, he said, only four court rooms for jury trials. He referred the case to Magistrate Judge Debra C. Freeman for a settlement.

On December 10, Judge Hellerstein held another status conference in the case. The parties had informed him of a desire to proceed to trial. So he picked a trial date - October 17, 2022, with a final pre-trial conference set for October 12.

The case is Baker v. City of New York, et al., 19-cv-8141 (Hellerstein)
