UNITED NATIONS, February 24 -- At the end of the Syria talks in Geneva and Montreux, Switzerland earlier this month, a hijacked plane from Ethiopia landed in Geneva. But it was not escorted by the Swiss air force, said to respond only eight am to five pm.
On February 19, Inner City Press asked UN spokesperson Martin Nesirky about it, and if the UN given its office in Geneva had any concerns about this policy at its "Host Country" there.
Nesirky said this was a question for the Swiss.
But on February 24 when Swiss Federation President Didier Burkhalter appeared at the UN Security Council stakeout and Inner City Press ran and asked him about it, he refused to answer. He said he would only answer questions as Chairperson-in-Office of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe. Video here.
So the UN said "Ask Switzerland," and the Swiss President, at the UN, says "I won't answer." Inner City Press called the Swiss air force nine to five, but was told it is EIGHT to five. So that's something. Watch this site.
