UNITED NATIONS, March 25 -- After the UN Security Council's three ineffectual press releases on the Central African Republic and the downfall of Bozize, the Council convened again late Monday.
Going into the Council, if only to wait outside the closed door consultations, were African Union ambassador Tete Antonio and Cameroon's Tommo Monthe.
Inner City Press asked Monthe about Bozize; Monthe laughed. His presence would seem to confirm some Cameroonian role in Bozize's transit.
Benin's Ambassador came out of the Council and told Inner City Press that the Seleka rebels are talking about a “three year transition.” He shook his head: too long.
Inner City Press' question to the UN at noon, about UNHCR transporting 20 or 25 Bozize family members in the DRC -- the same service as offered to all refugees, only only for VIPs? -- remained unanswered five hours later.
Tete Antonio gave Inner City Press a copy of the AU's Communique of March 25, which suspended CAR from the AU and imposed a travel ban and asset freeze on seven Seleka leaders, including Dhotodio, Dhafane, Betty, Aroune, the CPJP's Adam, Seleka's Paris-based spokesman Massi, and Le Gaillard.
