UNITED NATIONS, October 12 -- As the foreign minister of deposed Honduran president Mel Zelaya, Patricia Rodas, told the Press in New York that the clock must be turned back to June, the monent before Zelaya's ouster, Inner City Press asked about mercenaries in the country. Zelaya has been quoted that "Israeli mercenaries"were trying to kill him with gas and chemicals.

Inner City Press asked Ms. Rodas if there is proof, of the Israeli mercenaries or of the UN reported Colombian paramilitaries in the country, and if so if she would be taking the evidence to the UN Security Council, as a threat to international peace and security. Video here, from Minute 31:56.

Ms. Rodas fastened on the Colombian paramilitaries, expanding it to include past death squads including the "316"group and Billy Joya, a squad leader now advising Micheletti. The "Israeli mercenary" question she converted a question of a single individual who distributes the gas and chemical at issue.

Ms. Rodas said that it is "lobbyists for the dictatorship" and "mercenaries who are trying to breed division between Zelaya and Israel. She emphasized that she has attacked media mogul Jorge Canahuati, even though he is of "Palestinian descent."

In her more than ten minute response to Inner City Press' question, Ms. Rodas likened Micheletti to a Nazi, spoke of the regime's $300,000 lobbying contract in Washington -- which includes Clintonista Lanny Davis -- and expressed solidarity with the victims of the Holocaust. It's a nice spin, but Zelaya wasn't quoted about a single distributor, but "Israeli mercenaries." Watch this site.
