SDNY EXCLUSIVE, Jan 16 – Urologist Darius Paduch was arrested and arraigned on April 11, 2023. Inner City Press was there.
On April 19 Paduch's counsel submitted a letter to Magistrate Judge Jennifer E. Willis for release on bail. A proposed co-signer, now at issue, "met Paduch's cousin Jadwiga Wojcik, employed at Greene, Tweed & Company.
But he was denied.
On December 21, Paduch's counsel wrote in that the AUSA Attorney's Office conveyed to him that "JR" wanted his name redacted. Inner City Press had already published it.
On December 22 Judge Ronnie Abrams temporarily redacted the entirety of the paragraph, at least until January 5, while noting Judge Kaplan's granting of Inner City Press' application to unseal SBF's suretors.
On January 5, notably, Paduch's lawyer wrote in to say "we see no need to keep the information public...we agreed to redaction." It is DOJ seeking to redact the name of a predator's proposed suretor, worse than when it "took no position" in SBF and Sebastian Greenwood.
On January 16, Judge Abrams denied sealing, stating among other things "Not only has at least one news outlet reported on the co-signer’s name, as well as that he met Defendant as a patient, but an unredacted picture of the requested redaction is also publicly available. 1 As noted by the Second Circuit, once “[t]he genie is out of the bottle,” courts do “not [have] the means to put the genie back.” Gambale v.
