SDNY Exclusive, Jan 16 – Brooklyn based literary agent Weronika Janczuk was arrested on January 11, 2022 for cyber-stalking.
On July 21 the US Attorney's Office agreed to defer prosecuting her.
In September, after the DPA, Janczuk emailed a series of threats to Inner City Press, as well as demands for censorship: "Please pull all content: here Weronika Janczuk The content sent herein is legal in nature and intent, and is protected from publication by e-channel'd privacy & security laws, IP protections, and positively-declared NDA statutes."
On October 22 and then December 22, 2023 a series of one month Orders to Continue in the Interest of Justice.
On January 5, 2024, Janczuk appeared without any advance notice in the SDNY Magistrates Court. Inner City Press was there. She pled not guilty to an information, after waiving indictment. The AUSA asked for a control date of January 29, saying his Office has extended a plea offer. The Federal Defender, who Jancsuk previously tried to fire, whispered with her. Do victims rights (to be notified) statutes apply here?
On January 16, Judge Schofield scheduled it: "as to Weronika Janczuk, Application Granted. The parties shall appear for a change of plea and sentencing hearing on January 29, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. Defendant's sentencing submission shall be filed on January 17, 2024. The Government's submission shall be filed on January 23, 2024." Watch this site.
