NYC, Sept 12– When the IMF held its press briefing on September 12, Inner City Press was able to asked the spokesperson three questions: On Sri Lanka, please comment on the Finance Ministry saying that Ministry "opposing the IMF’s DSA could lead to severe delays in securing financial support" - true? On Bangladesh, amid reports the country wants to seek a $5 billion IMF program after the exit of Sheikh Hasina, can you state the status of such a request, and review? On Russia, please explain the status of Ksenia Yudaeva, under US sanctions since 2022, and this: "According to Alexey Mozhin, Ksenia Yudaeva will have to run the office from Moscow, as sanctions prevent her from visiting the United States, where the IMF is headquartered." Is that true? The spokesperson Julie Kozack's replies referenced Sri Lanka's hard-won gains, as well as saying the September 21 election is up to the Sri Lankan people. On Bangladesh, Ms. Kazack said the IMF is saddened by the loss of life, there is a staff visit. And on Ms. Yudaeva, she said Executive Directors are elected so answering would be premature.
