SDNY COURTHOUSE, Jan 19 – William Sadleir was arrested and released in May, 2020 on fraud charges.

On December 21, 2020 U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York Judge Paul A. Engelmayer held a proceeding. Inner City Press covered it, below.

On January 19, 2022 Sadleir converted a pre-trial conference into a change of plea - and pled guilty. Inner City Press spotted the proceeding in the docket and covered it. His plea deal is for 108 months and referenced a Central District of California case. His forfeiture will include a Tesla and a Beverly Hills mansion. His sentencing is set for May 10 at 10:30 am.

The SDNY prosecutors previously announced "the unsealing of a Complaint in Manhattan federal court charging WILLIAM SADLEIR, the former chairman and chief executive officer of Aviron Pictures, LLC, a movie production and distribution company based in Los Angeles, California, with engaging in multiple fraudulent schemes relating to investments made by a New York-based investment fund in Aviron Pictures, LLC and its affiliated entities."

The US Attorney's Office has sought and gotten sealed treatment for its "post-indictment restraining order" and affidavits supporting it; what's in the docket names 9135 Hazen Drive in Los Angeles.

Judge Engelmayer asked about the California case, and set another conference for January 28.

Inner City Press covered this conference, too. Now the defense wants to push the SDNY trail to January 2022, in defense to a July 2021 trial date in the Central District of California where the defense says the COVID situation is not good.

The case is US v. Sadleir, 20-cr-320 (Engelmayer)
