On Israel Attack in Syria, Libya for Arab Group Writes to UNSC, GA Vote on Qatar Draft Slated for May 15

By Matthew Russell Lee
UNITED NATIONS, May 8 -- Now at the UN the Arab Group has written to the UN Security Council, telling it to "shoulder its responsibilities" with regard to Israel's attacks on Syria and violations of Lebanon's air space.
The Arab Group letter, which Inner City Press has obtained and is putting online here, comes from May's chair of the Group, Libya's Ibrahim Dabbashi.
Dabbashi was in the Security Council on Wednesday, as Libya and the International Criminal Court were on the agenda. One wanted to ask him about the new political isolation law, on which the UN has had nothing at all to say.
Inner City Press noted that Iran for the Non Aligned Movement had issued and e-mailed out a statement on Israel's attacks on Syria on Tuesday evening; that's just a statement, ours is a letter to the Security Council, it's more serious, came the response.
Last night Inner City Press put online the final, for circulation version of Qatar's draft resolution on Syria, here. Now Inner City Press has been told the plan is to put it to the vote on May 15, but that other others African and Latin countries, even as modified, have issues. Watch this site.
