UN GATE, Aug 5 – How corrupt is today's UN under Antonio Guterres? While its UNMISS Mission steals a radio station and land by the Juba airport, it stands by as Riek Machar is disappeared - South Sudan and UNMISS, about which his spokespeople Stephane Dujarric and Melissa Fleming refuse all Press questions. Inner City Press has asked them, and others, about the newest sex abuse case against the UN there. This, from a UN whistleblower sent to Inner City Press:
Dear Matthew Russell Lee,
Several senior staff members from UNMISS are quietly departing the mission, reportedly under the cover of senior management officials from New York. At the same time, the final report of the audit into the UNMISS Medical Section—conducted over a year and a half ago—remains unreleased.
It appears to have been deliberately suppressed by OIOS, whose impartiality in this matter is increasingly in question. The audit findings were reportedly shared with Ms. Maria Costa for appropriate follow-up; however, no action or communication has been provided to staff or stakeholders to date. The audit reportedly uncovered several serious issues, including:
The untimely death of a staff member during medical evacuation and treatment.
A USD 2 million procurement of unnecessary medical equipment.
A questionable USD 10 million payment allegedly made in the name of "sport facilities" for peacekeepers without proper procedure while their governments take the payment including the sport facilities.
Rumors have also emerged regarding potential money laundering schemes involving illegal payments and possible kickbacks.
A failure to recover approximately USD 500,000 from international contractors for their use of the Level II medical clinic. The continued delay in finalizing and releasing this report raises serious concerns about transparency, accountability, and the integrity of the Organization’s internal oversight mechanisms. Furthermore, the current Director of Mission Support is reportedly leaving the duty station without providing any conclusion or closure on the audit process—further compounding concerns about institutional responsibility and governance failures.
Guterres, they say, should end censorship. Application was made on June 19, 2025. Watch this site.
