Man Wanted for Murder in Kosovo Wants Time Served in SDNY But US Wants 28 Months

by Matthew Russell Lee, Patreon Book Substack

SDNY COURTHOUSE, Dec 4 – Dede Lleshi is up for sentencing on December 7 for naturalization fraud offenses.

He is wanted in Kosovo on murder charges. His Federal Defender says that does not justify keeping him in prison in the US.

The alleged murder took place in 2003; Kosovo authorities said it was to avenge the killing of Lleshi's father 12 years before that. He entered the US in 2006 with a fraudulent Slovenian passport in the name of "Fikret Mujic."

He was arrested on May 4, 2023 and pled guilty on October 25. He faced removal to Kosovo.

The US wants 28 months, citing US v. Worku, a 10th Circuit case from 2015.

The case is US v. Lleshi, 23-cr-248 (Oekten)
