80 CENTRE STREET, April 8 – New York City officials on Tuesday announced the indictment of 16 people for "allegedly committing 21 shootings over several months. LA World operated out of the New York City Housing Authority’s Lehman and AK Houses, while Wuski operated out of NYCHA’s Johnson Houses. Nine LA World defendants and seven Wuski defendants are charged in two separate indictments."
Inner City Press went to the press conference, which included Mayor Eric Adams and NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch, and asked if consideration had been give to Federalizing the case to the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York, where Inner City Press is covering for example another Upper Manhattan gang case.
DA Alvin Bragg replied that there is a division of labor, linking narcotics cases to the Federal prosecutors - of which Bragg was one - and guns to the state.
The arraignments proceedings on the 7th floor of 111 Centre Street, where Inner City Press has covered for example the Taxstone trial. We will continue on these cases.
