SDNY COURTHOUSE, June 26 – The NFL has been sued for its teams only selling and licensing their merchandise through National Football League Properties, Inc. thereby cutting out other competitors like Fanatics, Inc.
On June 23, 2022 U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York Judge Andrew L. Carter held a proceeding. Inner City Press covered it.
The NFL, as in the Brian Flores case, wants to compel arbitration. Judge Carter ordered (and where applicable the parties stipulated) that the NFL will be July 20 produce any responsive, non-objectionable, arbitration-related discovery - subject to the entry of a confidentiality order.
Significantly, briefing on the motion to dismiss is stayed pending resolution of the motion to compel arbitration.
The case is Maldonado et al v. National Football League, Inc. et al., 22-cv-2289 (Carter)
