SDNY COURTHOUSE, April 10 – Kristin Carmody was fired by NYU Langone, and sued for retaliation citing her advocacy around Black Lives Matter and to protect medical staff from the risks of COVID.
On April 10 in the trial before U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York Magistrate Judge Valerie Figueredo, NYU Langone's Robert Femia said he had initially wanted to suspend her, for writing that she had checked a "VIP" patient when she hadn't.
But then everyone he consulted, he said, called it a firable offense.
The jury and those in the courtroom gallery were shown Femia's text with Robert Grossman, due on the stand Friday, referring to "Yin's wife." If the complaining patient had not been a VIP, the spouse of an NYU Langone big wig, would it have been a firing offense?
The trial continues.
