SDNY COURTHOUSE, July 13 – Shon Mobiley was arrested with a loaded gun in The Bronx last Fall, and jailed.
On July 13 U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York Judge Ronnie Abrams held a Violation of Supervised Release proceeding. Inner City Press covered it.
Mobiley's Federal Defender argued for time served, citing COVID-19 and saying that Mobiley could get certified to get paid to give health care to his mother.
But Judge Abrams said that time served would send the wrong message. She sentenced Mobiley to six additional months incarceration and then repeated, You do you have to be defined by your worst moment.
She said, If once you're out you have a gun again, you will go to jail again, do you understand that?
I understood that this time, Mobiley said.
The case is US v. Mobiley, 17-cr-515 (Abrams)
