SDNY COURTHOUSE, July 14 – Julio A. Dominguez was arrested on January 23, 2018 after entering a black car with 1.1 kilos of heroin. According to his lawyer, he immediately confessed.
On July 14 Dominguez was up for sentencing before U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York Judge Jesse M. Furman. Inner City Press covered it.
While Dominguez' lawyer emphasized that he was not seeking a cooperator's 5K1 letter, Judge Gardephe agreed to seal not only many of the filings in the case, but also portions of the transcript of the public sentencing.
Reference was made to Dominguez having reasons to be afraid, and that there is an immigration detainer against him.
But his lawyer said he was unable to get his medical records, "from Puerto Rico." Judge Gardephe agreed to time served, and to the sealing.
The case is US v. Dominguez, 18-cr-303 (Furman)
