SDNY COURTHOUSE, March 6 – Doctor Hemant Patel hired Thajaswi Bandikatla to work in his medical practice in The Bronx after her J-1 waiver and H-1B Visa approval.
Things went badly and he sued. She counter-sued accusing Patel of trafficking her.
On March 6, the trial began before U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York Judge Jed S. Rakoff. Inner City Press was there.
Patel's lawyer called the trafficking claim nonsense. Judge Rakoff told him he had one minute remaining for his opening.
He bought it in on time, and the trial continued.
The case is Patel, M.D., P.C. v. Bandikatla, M.D., 18-cv-10227 (Rakoff)
