SDNY COURTHOUSE, March 4 – All politics is local, the old saw goes. On March 4, 2023, New York City Mayor Eric Adams donned a Bulgarian flag by the Wall Street Bull in lower Manhattan as the Bulgarian flag was raised, next to the Stars and Stripes.

Adams mentioned the war in Ukraine, and took selfies with some of those in attendance while his car 4 by 4 waited on the other side of Broadway.

Earlier, an Orthodox priest had spoken, in the Bulgarian and English, and the Master of Ceremonies, noted that in 2007 as well the flag was raised "here on Wall Street." There was no mention of Bugarian-born FBI Top Ten suspect Ruja Ignatova, of the once Sofia based OneCoin crypto-currency scam. Inner City Press which covers OneCoin in Federal court on Foley Square, and the failure on Ukraine of the United Nations in Turtle Bay, filmed the raising of the flags.

In a parallel world, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said in a statement "This is a special year, as we mark the 120th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Bulgaria and the United States. Over the years, our friendship has grown into a multi-faceted partnership. As friends, partners, and NATO Allies, we take pride in our shared values as we work together to ensure peace, security, and prosperity for the people of our countries. Know that we stand with you and your neighbors as we confront the hardships brought about by Russia’s unprovoked war against Ukraine."
