UN GATE, Aug 22 – How corrupt is today's UN under Antonio Guterres? While its UNMISS Mission steals a radio station and land by the Juba airport, it stands by as Riek Machar is disappeared - South Sudan and UNMISS, about which his spokespeople Stephane Dujarric and Melissa Fleming refuse all Press questions. Inner City Press has asked them, and others, about the newest sex abuse case against the UN there. Now this, from a UN whistleblower sent to Inner City Press:
Dear Matthew Russell Lee,
As South Sudan prepares to bid farewell on Friday to outgoing UN Deputy Special Representative Mr. Guang Cong, who has been appointed as UN Special Representative , attention has turned to the campaign of Ms. Leda Limann, daughter of the former Ghanaian President. She has reportedly been lobbying in New York through Ghanaian diplomats, with the backing of Deputy Secretary-General Amina J. Mohammed, who did nothing as Antonio Guterres targeted and banned Inner City Press.
Observers note that, amid the UN’s ongoing financial crisis, it is neither practical nor necessary for both Somalia and South Sudan to maintain separate Special Representatives and Deputies. Instead, they argue, a streamlined structure with one SRSG and one DSRSG covering both countries would be more cost-effective.
Meanwhile, the current SRSG for South Sudan has extended his stay in New York citing medical reasons, delaying his return to Juba. Critics warn that appointing Ms. Limann—who they say lacks substantive diplomatic experience and political maturity—would be a serious misstep, risking what little remains of the pre-Guterres credibility and effectiveness of the UN Mission in South Sudan
Guterres, they say, should end censorship. Application was made on June 19, 2025. Watch this site.
