Honduras Mario Jose Calix Hernandez Arraigned As Future Extraditions Said Stalled

SDNY COURTHOUSE, Oct 2 – In the closing arguments on March 6, 2024 AUSA Tarlow said that narco trafficking had grown under Honduras President Juan Orlando Hernandez. On March 7, out of the hearing of the jury and for then the Press, JOH's lawyer Stabile said he'd heard different overnight.

  From who?

  The defendant's wife he said.

  Was this just a play for a mistrial?

On August 28, successor President Xiomara Castro asked Honduran Foreign Minister Enrique Reina to "denounce" the country's extradition treaty with the United States.

On October 2 he was arraigned before Judge Castel, pled not guilty and had a January 9 hearing set. The prosecutors said he had filed a sealed letter - but two hours after the proceeding, there was nothing in the docket.

The case is USA v. Diaz Morales, 1:15-cr-379 (Castel)

The case is US v. Archaga Hernandez, 24-cr-337 (Clarke)
