SDNY COURTHOUSE, Nov 19 – The cities of Syracuse, San Jose, Chicago and Columbia, South Carolina sued the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives for not enforcing the Gun Control Act on so-called "ghost guns." Then the case was closed, but not dismissed.
On November 18, 2022, U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York Judge Gregory H. Woods held a proceeding. Inner City Press covered it.
The plaintiffs wanted to re-open the case and amend their complaint. But DOJ for AFT said there is no discrete governmental action they are suing, and that a new lawsuit would be required.
The plaintiffs asked for Judge Woods to rule they could amend their complain. He declined, directing them instead to make a motion for it.
They asked for more time; he denied it, saying the case is not mean to be leverage over the AFT. So the motion is due December 9.
