SDNY COURTHOUSE, Sept 22 – While reporting on the US v. Trevor Milton trial, whistleblower information came in. It had to be anonymized, and has been, ever further:
"There are pictures of parts and their prices that they posted on the wall, for a cost-reduction workshop. They had a girl cutting paper strips and using tape to cover up all the part prices.
Each battery alone (before the 30% price increase on the LG coils, so they've undoubtedly gone up now) was listed as $29,704. There are 9 batteries on each truck.
All the parts shown, including the batteries, but not including at the very least the cab, and who knows what else, was ~300k.
An ex-manager said that Nikola never thought they would profit on the BEV. But needed it to help keep them going, keep investor interest, so they could raise money until they could get the FCEV going. They have huge problems with the BEV Romeo batteries & Romeo battery management software.
There were problems with the FCEV. A functional leader gave out a document for the timeline for the FCEV and said those timeline/production dates were incorrect, but that he wasn't allowed to change them on the official document.
There was an email just a couple days later, telling us that no matter what we heard, those were the delivery dates. But with the problems they'd explained they were having with the FCEV, though, the email-writer couldn't believed what he wrote."
