Oct 12 â How corrupt and
decrepit has the UN system
become under Antonio Guterres,
in this case due to Guterres?
Today's example is again from
the Office of the High
Commission for Human Rights,
to which Guterres appointed
his unqualified crony Volker
Turk more than two years ago.
From OHCHR
staff - "Dear Matthew Russell
Lee, Many thanks for exposing
corruption in the UN... They also wrote, "Volker Turkâs congratulations to Nobel Prize laureate Navi Pillay is as fake as it gets. Volker Turk is as resentful as it gets as he will get no award as he lacks credibility. He knows that he is a lame duck waiting for Guterres departure, he is weak and âtimidâ. Volker Turk is delirious when he claims that UN staff has âemotion and joyâ for Navi Pillayâs Nobel peace prize. Pillay, like Volker Turk, was not a popular High Commissioner. Pillai allowed to give the names of NGOs to China opening the doors for reprisals. She covered serious human rights violations in Africa. Refused to publish the DRC Mapping report, leaked by his spokesperson Rupert Colville to UK media. She begged for 4 year extension and she got a half term by the Secretary General. She got OHCHR into its first financial crisis, many people got fired at that time, not as many as under crony Volker Turk. When she left, staff felt relieved as she was distant, nasty with junior staff, intellectually out of class and driven by her personal trips to New York." That is Volker Turkâs role model, nasty to the staff and fake-brave while complicit in compromising whistleblowers. Volker Turk sells out UNâs credibility, worse he trades with it. Will Amb
Waltz and Amb Steggerda hold
SG candidates accountable and
force them to seriously look
into OHCHR mismanagement? For now, doesn't
look like it. Inner City Press
