decrepit has the UN system
become under Antonio Guterres,
now with France rejoicing?
Today's example is again from
the Office of the High
Commission for Human Rights,
to which Guterres first
appointed his unqualified
crony Volker Turk then as a
lame duck got him four more
years on July 24, see below. On July 25, the
France's Mission to the UN in
Geneve tweeted, "The US used
to be a beacon of human
rights. Not anymore. Today, it
stands alongside North Korea,
Nicaragua, Mali & Russia,
isolated. And the world no
longer listens to it." Was
this about Gaza? Cuba? No - it was about
the vote to reward Volker
Turk. But UN and
OHCHR staff trash Turk to
Inner City Press, as corrupt
and ineffective on human
rights. Apparently this is
just how France likes it.

Before Inner City Press was
thrown out of the UN - this is
after the French Ambassador to
the UN threatened to have to
police called on Inner City
Press after it reported the
Quai d'Orsay's corruption on
Cote d'Ivoire, based on leaked
documents - it covered France
standing alone in a vote on
Iraq Oil of Food in the UNSC,
only so that its BNP Paribas
could get paid. The same BNP
Paribas recently found liable
for its role in the Sudan
genocide in a trial in SDNY. Oh and then there
was another France Ambassador
Francois Delattre with
Ghislaine Maxwell as a
fundraiser for its French
journalist still in the
UN. And Herve Ladsous
and Jean Pierre Lacroix
overseeing and not punishing
rape by UN peacekeepers in CAR
and DRC - or, as they say,
RDC. As to Turk: From OHCHR
staff - "Dear Matthew Russell
Lee, Many thanks for exposing
corruption in UN under Antonio
Guterres and his cronies like
Volker Turk Today we have
witnessed a blatant example of
how the General Assembly
supports nepotism and
incompetence by voting for a
four year term extension for
narcissist Volker Turk. Did
the UNGA have a principled or
an ideological vote? Does the UNGA
care about the allegations
documented about nepotism and
waste of tax payers
resources?. No, the UNGA
showed lack of interest about
OHCHR. How come Volker
Turk was renewed for four
years? This is an
unprecedented move. UNGA
has show they want
appeasement, a soft High
Commissioner. Volker Turk has
remained conveniently silent
in some of the worst crises,
he has wasted millions in
useless initiatives, he has
fired junior staff and
promoted cronies. Yet he has
been given overwhelming
support by member states.
OHCHR staff was hoping for a
ray of light coming from the
UNGA. It did not come, same as
it will not come from the UN
Secretariat nor OIOS. We are
on our own to fight
corruption, nepotism and
incompetence. For four
years Volker Turk has
destroyed OHCHR operational
capacity, has favored his
friends, has closed his eyes
to human rights situations
selectively and has sealed
himself from victims. Thank
you to member states lack of
care for Human rights. Shame
on you who voted for
corruption. You just made the
end of a credible UN one step
closer (and four years away
further). Amb Waltz, the
ball is on your court." Fat chance. So far,
nothing from Mike Waltz,
previously seen skydiving in
France then on a lone Sunday
show on CBS, unannounced -
self-booked? Now he has
blithely signed the UN
Charter. Meanwhile both Big
Tony and Amina junketed on
April 15 to the IMF which
Inner City Press is accredited
to cover, and at which it
asked questions - but not of
Tony, as UNCTAD denied Inner
City Press to its "side
event." The UN is dying, or
being killed off. There's a new
NextSG candidate, Maria
Fernanda Espinosa. Two days
ago she and her sponsor
Antigua and Barbuda were sent
a questionnaire about about
this. So far, nothing. Watch
this site. Inner City Press
re-applied to re-enter the UN
on June 19, 2025 - no answer
at all from Melissa Fleming,
Tel Mekel, Stephane Dujarric
for six months, then a denial
with no reason at all given.
Today's UN is corrupt.
