SDNY COURTHOUSE, July 7 – Reginald Claxton was on trial on crack cocaine charges in June 2022 - but the compensation of a cooperating witness became issue.

On June 21, 2022 U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York Judge Alvin K. Hellerstein presided over the trial. Inner City Press went and covered it.

On the witness stand an NYPD witness described the crack vials and why they were empty (the contents were taken out for testing and weighing).

Later another witness, on redirect, needed his recollection refreshed.     Claxton's lawyer said that the "case comes down to two men you can't trust.

A man named as Angel, he gets his housing paid for by the NYPD. Pretty nice, right?"

The prosecutors wrote in in seeking the right to tell jurors that the housing is in the project, to which Angel was relocated amid threats.

And then: Reginald Claxton was found not guilty, and Judgment of Acquittal entered.

The overall case is  US v. Spearman, et al., 20-cr-631 (Hellerstein)
