SDNY COURTHOUSE, Feb 9 –  Three women have sued the City of New York for its transfer of women and transgender pre-trial detainees to the Bedford Hills Correctional Facility, where they say they were abused including sexually abused.

On February 9, U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York Judge Lorna G. Schofield held a Zoom proceeding. Inner City Press covered it.

Judge Schofield said lawyers have told her they miss being in the courtroom, so she had set up this proceeding in a civil case by Zoom than than simply phone.

The Complaint quotes Correction Officer A saying, "You want a f*cking problem? You think you're f*cking tough? Yea what's up?"

Then Correction Officer A threw Plaintiff Sue Brown onto the floor.

And given the abuse at issue in the case, things were surprisingly civil. Motions are due by April 22, with replies running through June 10.

The case is Brown et al v. City of New York et al., 21-cv-10492 (Schofield)
