SDNY COURTHOUSE, June 2 – Don King Productions has filed a lawsuit against the World Boxing Association, seeking to oust Mahmoud Charr from the position of "champion in recess" in favor of Trevor Bryan, represented by King.

The lawsuit, filed June 2 in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York where Inner City Press as in-house media found it, recounts how Charr defeated Alexander Ustinov in 2017, but then did not defend the title.

Charr refused to fight Bryan, and canceled a bout with Fres Oquendo. It is a fracaso.

The case is Don King Productions, Inc. et al., v. World Boxing Association, 21-cv-4885 (Unassigned).

In previous SDNY boxing litigation from March 2021:  O'Shaquie Foster wants to drop promoter Dibella Entertainment, which has sued him and is stopping his probably short career at a key point.

On May 11, U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York Judge John G. Koeltl held a proceeding. Inner City Press covered it.

Both sides said they want this proceeding to move quickly, given how time bound a boxer's career can be. But the best that could be done was a discovery schedule running through October 29.

Will this contender still have a shot by then?

The case is DiBella Entertainment, Inc. v. Foster, 21-cv-2709 (Koeltl)
