SDNY COURTHOUSE, Jan 5 – Angel Otero has a January 29 deadline for submissions for compassionate release from Federal prison. But he's been unable to speak with his lawyer due to COVID-19 lockdown.
On January 5 U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York Judge Katherine Polk Failla, overseeing Otero's case, was asked to sign an order on it.
Before here are a series of emails with FCI Gilmer in Glenville, West Virginia, including on from earlier on January 5 that "We are currently locked down due to Covid restrictions.
At this time we are not allowed to pull inmates out of their cells."
There is a also a draft proposed order that "the phone call must take place within three days of this order."
The case is US v. Otero, 15-cr-608 (Failla)
