COURTHOUSE,
Sept 17 รขA man made part of a
two-defendant indictment for
running a fentanyl mill in The
Bronx was brought on September
17 into the U.S. District
Court for the Southern
District Magistrates Court.
Inner City Press was there,
the only media in the SDNY Mag
Court. He was
asked if he understood the
indictment - and he said no.
He was asked if his appointed
CJA lawyer had read it to him
with the assistant of a
Spanish language interpreter
and he said yes. He
consented to detention without
prejudice to making a later
application for release on
bond. Only after he was
led out was a young man
sitting in the courtroom
gallery identified as his son. "You look just
like him," he was
told. The overall case
is USA v. Genao, et al.,
1:26-cr-403 (Koeltl)
