ONE HOGAN PLACE, Sept 14 â
Manhattan District Attorney Alvin K. Bragg on September 14
held a press conference to announce his Office's seizure
of 12 "deep-fake porn" websites, saying "1,200 victims of
these websites and the content creators who use these
websites to sell their NCII videos are overwhelmingly
women and primarily public-facing individuals, including
actors, politicians, athletes, musicians, social justice
advocates, and social media influencers."
Inner City Press attended and live streamed
the press conference. During the on-topic Q&A, Inner
City Press asked DA Bragg about AOC's deep-fake bill
pending in Congress, and what NYS statutes his Office used
for the seizures.
DA Bragg said he would confine
himself to New York law, citing 245.15 which he noted was
amended in 2023 to include digitized images.
Looking into it, this amendment provided
that "(d)â'digitization' shall mean to alter an image in a
realistic manner utilizing an image or images of a person,
other than the person depicted, or computer generated
images."
