SDNY COURTHOUSE, Aug 12 รข€“ A man from Trinidad and Tobago who says he faces persecution there as a gay man filed a habeas corpus petition in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York, where Inner City Press found it.

The petition says he entered the US in 2015 and resided in Brooklyn. He "had been serving a criminal sentence at the Rikers Island Correctional Facility when on the morning of his scheduled release he was arrested by ICE."

A habeas corpus petition was filed on his behalf in SDNY, and assigned to Judge Jeannette A. Vargas.

The case is S.P. v. Genalo, et al., 1:26-cv-6891 (Vargas)
