SDNY COURTHOUSE, July 8 รข€“ A defendant whom the prosecutors said fired shots at a fleeing and bleeding victim in The Bronx was the subject of a bail fight on July 8 in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York Magistrates Court. Inner City Press was the only media there, and live tweeted it:

OK- now in SDNY bail hearing on defendant, convicted of felony, charged with shooting at Individual-1, "who was already bleeding," on 162nd St and Melrose Ave in the South Bronx.

AUSA: We have the shooting on video, I have it here with me if your Honor would like to see it. The attempted murder cross-reference here, attempted murder, would put the sentence exposure over 20 years.

Federal Defender: He has ties to New York. His girlfriend lives in a two bedroom apartment in Brooklyn. He got his own place two months ago. We propose a $25,000 PRB. Yes he was on parole. But he is not a risk of flight

 Judge: I order detention.

Adjourned

The case is USA v. Cruz, 1:26-mj-2570 (Ricardo)
