Man Who Says He Had Something In His Hand Pleads Guilty to Dangerous Instrument VOSR

SDNY COURTHOUSE, June 12 รข€“ A man first charged in Federal court in 2014 as a felon in possession of a firearm - a Taurus model 85SS2 in the backseat of a livery cab in the South Bronx - was back on June 12, 2026 on violations of supervised release.

US District Court for the Southern District of New York Judge Gregory H. Woods presided. Inner City Press covered it.

There was a dispute about Specification 9, attempted assault with a dangerous instrument. An amendment was proposed calling it a firearm; the defendant said no, that's not what it was.

Judge Woods left the bench, telling the parties to discuss and see if they could resolve it.

Ultimately when asked if he had committed the violation, the defendant said, I had something in my hand and they called it a deadly weapon. It wasn't, but I copped out to it, so yes.

So, a dangerous instrument?

 He said, Apparently yes.

With that, the guilty plea was accepted and sentencing set for July 14.

The case is USA v. Manuel, 1:14-cr-497 (Woods)
