Substack UN GATE,
March 31 รข How corrupt
is the UN-world system under
Antonio Guterres, who bans the
Press which investigates? This
example is again from ITU,
International
Telecommunication Union, whose
whistleblowers have, like
others, reached out to banned
Inner City Press, which putITU
questions to 30 plus UN
spokesperson with no reply: "Dear Matthew
Russell Lee: There needs
to be accountability at ITU,
ahead of its Council that
begins on 28 April. Do Member
States care that Mr. Stephen
Bereaux is pocketing around
$20k a month as a D2 selected
without competition by the SG,
while at the same time openly
campaigning for the Deputy
Secretary-General position on
behalf of the Bahamas, and
working as a consultant for
the Bahamas? Do Member
States care that Mr. Bereaux's
wife, Michelle Bereaux, will
be sitting in the Council
since she is also on the
Bahamas delegation payroll,
with a role of "scrutinizing"
the financials and
administration of the ITU,
while her husband wears three
simultaneous hats: ITU D2 as
Chief of Finance and
Administration, consultant for
the government of Bahamas, and
Bahamas candidate for Deputy
Secretary-General? ITU
rules state that candidates
must go on unpaid leave. But this: "The
Government of The Commonwealth
of The Bahamas has announced
its support for the candidacy
of Mr. Stephen Bereaux for the
elected position of Deputy
Secretary-General of the
International
Telecommunication Union (ITU).
The announcement was made by
Mr. Randol Dorsett, Chairman,
URCA, The Bahamas during the
ITU World Telecommunications
Development Conference (WTDC)
2025. Mr. Bereaux is currently
the ITU's Chief of
Administration & Finance."
Lawless. More coming. After repeated
refusal to respond by
spokespeople including
Stephane Dujarric and Melissa
Fleming, here was the first
complaint on Inner City Press'
DocumentCloud here.
On June 19, 2025 Inner City
Press re-applied to re-enter
the UN to ask these questions,
application here.
