SDNY COURTHOUSE, April 3 – Zhihui Qin applied to the US Department of Homeland Security for asylum status, citing a fear of prosecution by the government of China due to his political opinion.

Then nothing happened - so, a lawsuit,

On April 3, 2023 U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York Magistrate Judge Stewart D. Aaron held a proceeding. Inner City Press covered it.

The government lawyer said that First In, First Out has been upheld by courts and that a motion to dismiss was now due. Judge Aaron said it should be filed by May 2, with opposition by May 16.

The case is Qin v. U.S. Department of Homeland Security, 23-cv-1787 (Aaron)

Meanwhile from DC, Congressman Dan Goldman, a former SDNY prosecutor who represents the district containing 500 Pearl Street (in wihch Rep Nidia Velasquez closed her office, when the electoral map changed), issued this: "Congressman Dan Goldman (NY-10) and Congressman Lou Correa (CA-46) today led 71 of their colleagues in a letter to Appropriations Committee leadership requesting $865 million for United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) to address the historic immigration backlog and support our nation’s commitment to process asylum seekers in a safe and orderly manner."
